The Premier League weekend slate features several competitive matchups, including a pair of Sunday games that could be decided by fine margins.

EPL Predictions: Premier League Picks, Props

Coventry Moneyline (+220)

Fulham at Coventry (Saturday, 10 a.m. ET)

Coventry's overall record isn't especially pretty, but this looks like a favorable spot to back the Sky Blues at home.

Coventry enters Matchweek 8 with six points from seven league matches, one point ahead of 18th-place Fulham. More importantly, Fulham has yet to win away from home in league play, going 0-1-2 through three road matches while averaging only 0.33 goals per game in those fixtures.

There have also been encouraging signs from Coventry recently. They produced a 4-1 home victory over Newcastle two matches ago. The Newcastle performance demonstrated the ceiling Coventry possesses at the Coventry Building Society Arena, particularly against opponents that allow them opportunities in transition.

Fulham finally picked up its first league win last weekend, but it came 1-0 at home against Hull. Alvaro Arbeloa’s side has scored only seven times in seven league matches, and its road scoring issues make it difficult to trust as an away favorite.

With Coventry getting this matchup at home, the moneyline offers an appealing way to back the hosts to grab three important points.

Newcastle-Palace Draw (+250)

Newcastle at Crystal Palace (Sunday, 10 a.m. ET)

Neither Crystal Palace nor Newcastle have done enough lately to inspire much confidence in an outright side, which makes the draw an attractive way to approach Sunday's meeting.

Palace has been inconsistent, going 2-1-2 across its past five league games, while Newcastle's recent form has been even shakier at 1-1-3. Newcastle enters the weekend on consecutive defeats, losing 4-1 at Coventry before a 1-0 home loss to Aston Villa. The Magpies have also lost their past two league road matches by identical 4-1 scores.

Palace hasn't exactly established Selhurst Park as a fortress, either. They've conceded in five consecutive home league matches while their defense has allowed 17 goals through seven games this season. Newcastle has conceded 14 over the same span.

That combination makes it difficult to separate the two sides.

With Palace vulnerable defensively but Newcastle struggling badly away from home, I think we’ll see a game in which each side does enough to avoid defeat without doing enough to secure all three points.

Brentford-Hull Under 2.5 Goals (+124)

Brentford at Hull (Sunday, 10 a.m. ET)

Hull's home defensive performances make the under a viable bet in this matchup.

Through their first seven league fixtures, Hull has conceded just two goals at MKM Stadium, one of the best home defensive records in the Premier League. Their style contributes to that number: Hull has averaged only 32% possession this season and tends to defend in a compact shape before looking to attack in transition.

That approach can make matches ugly, particularly against an opponent such as Brentford that is comfortable being patient. Hull was just held scoreless in a 1-0 loss at Fulham while starting striker Oliver McBurnie has yet to score despite playing more than 600 league minutes this season.

Given Hull's defensive record at home and their limited attacking output, this matchup has a reasonable path to finishing under 2.5 goals despite Brentford’s good start to the season.

Soccer Betting FAQ

What is a moneyline bet in soccer?

A moneyline bet is a wager on which team will win the match. Because soccer matches can end in a draw, most moneyline markets include three options: the home team, the away team, or a draw.

What does “draw no bet” mean?

Draw no bet removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the match ends tied, your wager is refunded. If your team wins, the bet wins.

What is a soccer total?

A total is a bet on how many combined goals will be scored in a match. For example, an Over 2.5 Goals bet wins if at least three goals are scored.

What does “both teams to score” mean?

Both Teams to Score, often abbreviated BTTS, is a wager on whether each team will score at least one goal during the match.
