Ollie Gordon II vs. Jaylen Wright Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Which Dolphins RB?

Dolphins Waiver Wire Add in Summary

  • Ollie Gordon II: the safer, more actionable add this week
  • Jaylen Wright: the higher-upside stash if he returns healthy
  • Caution: Miami's offense ranks 31st in points per game league-wide

De'Von Achane's season-ending ACL tear against the Chiefs has thrown Miami's backfield wide open, and fantasy managers everywhere are staring at the same question this week: Ollie Gordon II or Jaylen Wright? Here's a real, honest breakdown of both.

Ollie Gordon II

Gordon took over immediately in Achane's absence, carrying the ball 17 times for 41 yards and a touchdown while adding 3 catches for 14 yards. A genuine 6th-round rookie out of Oklahoma State — where he won the Doak Walker Award — Gordon has essentially no established NFL track record beyond this single game, but it's a real, meaningful one. Head coach Jeff Hafley said before Week 3 he was "confident" Gordon could handle a larger role, and that confidence played out immediately.

The clear advantage here is availability. Gordon is healthy, and he's the back who actually took the workload while Wright sat out.

Jaylen Wright

Wright carries the better draft pedigree — Miami traded up to select him in the fourth round back in 2024 — and a real, proven receiving and between-the-tackles profile, including a genuine 107-yard performance against the Jets last season. He's totaled 547 career rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

The problem is availability. Wright missed Week 3 entirely with a stinger and foot injury, meaning there's no real data yet on how touches split once both backs are healthy and on the field together. He's a genuine stash candidate, not a plug-and-play starter this week.

The Real Complication

Fantasy analysts Patrick Daugherty and Kyle Dvorchak have specifically cautioned managers against expecting much from either back — Miami's offense currently ranks 31st in the NFL in points per game (12.0) and 26th in yards per game (290.7) through three weeks. Whoever wins the larger share of this backfield is inheriting real touches on one of the league's least productive offenses, which caps the ceiling for both players regardless of the split.

The Verdict

If your league allows only one add, take Gordon — he's the healthy, in-role option with real, current-week production already on the board. If you have bench space for both, grab Gordon now and stash Wright, since his eventual return could genuinely complicate the touch split in his favor once he's fully healthy.
