In the West, it's the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights.

How did each squad's Stanley Cup odds change throughout the season? Let's take a look.

Even though the conference finals are without the Colorado Avalanche (who entered the season as heavy favorites) and the Boston Bruins (who dominated the regular season), the four teams left standing are a pretty good quartet in their own right.

The Hurricanes, Golden Knights, and Panthers all had pre-season Cup odds of +1900 or shorter.

By the time the playoffs began, the Stars earned some more respect and the Panthers' odds tumbled.

Notably, the Stars have the highest percentage of expected goals for (xGF%) among playoff teams (across all situations) at 56.8%, via NaturalStatTrick.

The Hurricanes (53.4%) are 4th among playoff teams, the Golden Knights (49.2%) are 10th, and the Panthers (47.2%) are 11th.

In terms of playoff performance, the Stars and Hurricanes have been playing better than their conference counterparts.

During the regular season, the Hurricanes led the NHL in that stat (57.5%) and have carried over a lot of that success into the playoffs.

The Stars ranked seventh (54.0%) in xGF% in the regular season with the Panthers ranking eighth (53.5%).

The Golden Knights (51.7%) were 16th in xGF%.

The underlying data shows an advantage for the Hurricanes over the Golden Knights, so it's not surprising that they are the Cup favorites.
