NHL Stanley Cup Final Game 5 Betting Picks and Prediction (Oilers-Panthers)

The Stanley Cup Final heads back to Florida on Tuesday night following a blowout in Game 4, leaving the series at 3-1.

Whether it's moneylines or total goals, there are plenty of ways to bet on the NHL action all season. It's been a long 82-game campaign, meaning that the best selections of each night can be very different based on backup goalies coming into play, injuries that add up, and if teams are due for positive or negative swings. Now it's time for the Stanley Cup Final, pitting the best against the best from each conference.

Let's dive into the best bets for Tuesday.

NHL Best Bets

Edmonton Oilers at Florida Panthers

Over 5.5 Goals (-108)

In Game 4, the scoring went haywire as the Edmonton Oilers potted eight goals, winning the game 8-1 to keep their season alive. While I think there's something to be said about that sort of domination, the first three games in this series paint a much different picture.

Edmonton finally broke open offensively, but it happened on their own ice -- one game after they were dominated on their own ice. The Panthers will have an opportunity to win their first Stanley Cup at home.

I fully expect them to get back to their game, which means controlling the pace -- but Edmonton isn't going to go away into the night. I'll take Over 5.5 Goals (-108) with the season on the line.

Each of these teams can score at an elite rate. They showed it all season, as the Oilers ranked first in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) (3.68) and the Panthers ranked second (3.49). It's starting to look like that in the Stanley Cup Final.

In the first five games of the Final, the Oilers have a 3.29 xGF/60 rate. The Panthers are right behind them, sitting at 3.18 xGF/60. What held this series back from hitting the over until Game 4 was the Oilers being able to beat Sergei Bobrovsky. They flipped the switch in Game 4 to the level, and they're likely not going to go down Tuesday without a fight -- and scoring.

It's going to be a battle to the finish tonight with everything on the line. The Oilers will play desperate, and I expect that to be the reason the scoring is again up.
