Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Please note that betting lines and numberFire's projections may change throughout the day after this article is published. Also, the weather may be an issue in some locations.

Chris Kreider Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)

The New York Rangers are -200 home favorites with a 3.69 implied goal total tonight against the Detroit Red Wings, in what should be a bounceback game.

After a lackluster performance the other night, the Rangers will look to rebound and get the offense going. The matchup against the Red Wings is a solid one since they are allowing the 13th most (60.79) Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations this season.

We'll look to Chris Kreider, who skates on the top forward line and the top power-play unit for the Rangers. Over 2.5 shots at near-even money is a solid option tonight, especially after Kreider recorded just a single shot in his last game.

He's averaging 2.6 shots on goal per game this season and has ended with three or more in three of his last five games. The team needs to get the offense going and with his role on the top units, he should have plenty of chances to fire the puck.

Zach Werenski To Record an Assist (+118)

In what could be a sloppy game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Montreal Canadiens, we'll look for some player props.

Both of these teams are among the worst in the league when it comes to defense and that should help open up the game and offer scoring chances for everyone.

Over the last two weeks, the Canadiens sit in the bottom 10 of the league in Goals Allowed (2.94) and Shot Attempts Allowed (70.13), both per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations.

For the Blue Jackets, they've actually picked up their scoring over the last two weeks, and now produce 3.20 Goals in the same situations, which is the seventh-best in the league.

This leads us to Zach Werenski to record an assist tonight. This is a rather specific market but it's really the best spot to target for Werenski.

He comes in with 15 total points this season, 14 of which are from assists. Werenski is also the defensemen on the first power-play for the Blue Jackets, which puts him in a great spot to pick up an easy apple tonight.
