NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Monday 1/29/24

Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Josh Norris Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+125)

With only one game on the NHL schedule tonight, let's jump into the Nashville Predators at the Ottawa Senators for some player props.

The home Senators are very slight -118 favorites where the total is set at 6.5 with a bit of juice (-114) on the over. We should see some solid back-and-forth action in this matchup, so let's start with a player prop from the Senators.

Josh Norris is the center on the second forward line and the first power-play for the Senators, which has him coming in with 23 shots on goal over his last 10 games.

Over the last two weeks, the Senator's offense has generated 68.67 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-best in the league. That is rather surprising for a team in the lower portion of the standings but an encouraging sign for their offense.

During the same time frame, the Predators have allowed 63.24 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 10th worst in the NHL.

Norris should have plenty of chances to fire the puck and rack up some shots on goal tonight.

Roman Josi To Record 1+ Assist (-113)

When it comes to offensive defensemen, Roman Josi is one of the best in the NHL.

Both teams have implied goal totals over 3.10 tonight and with a 6.5 over/under, scoring should be front and center tonight.

Over the last two weeks, the Senators have allowed 2.76 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-worst in the NHL. The Senators have also taken the fifth-most (556) penalty minutes this season.

Josi plays on the top defensive pairing and the first power-play unit for the Predators, which has allowed him to rack up 32 assists and 10 goals through 49 games this season.

That means his assists account for 76% of his total point production this season. If we convert the -113 odds from the prop to probability, that equals 53.2%.

Given the differential of the implied probability and the actual rate of occurrence for Josi, the assist market is the spot to target tonight.
