Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy hockey on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.

Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

NHL Prop Bets

Frederik Andersen Over 24.5 Saves (-102)

The Carolina Hurricanes are up 3-1 against the New York Islanders and will look to close out the series tonight.

Just as I wrote about yesterday, with Sergei Bobrovsky, we're looking at a goalie saves prop but this time with Frederik Andersen.

Andersen has started all four games in this series, going over this prop in two of the four games. It's important to note that this is a 60-minute save prop.

You will see in Andersen's game log that he went over this mark in the most recent game. He's gone over this prop in three of four games, and the one game he didn't went to double overtime.

The Isles are in the same spot we saw the Tampa Bay Lightning yesterday with their backs against the wall facing elimination. If the Islanders aren't putting Andersen in a spot where he needs to make 25+ saves, they aren't doing enough on offense to keep their season alive.

Constant offensive pressure will keep them in this game with the hopes of extending their season for one more game.

Nikolaj Ehlers Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-120)

The Winnipeg Jets are down 3-1 to the Colorado Avalanche and need a miracle to keep their season alive.

After an electric 7-6 win in Game 1, the Jets have proceeded to drop three straight games, giving up at least five goals in all three. Frankly, this is staggering considering the Jets allowed the fewest (199) goals in the regular season.

This is due to the fact the Avalanche have an elite offense and keep their foot on the gas 100% of the time. So, the Jets need to match that offensive pressure and that brings me to Nikolaj Ehlers.

Ehlers skates on the first forward line and the second power-play unit, which has allowed him to hit the over on this prop in three of the first four games of this series. A total of 12 shots on goal is tied for the second-highest on the Jets and they'll need his very best tonight if they want to force a Game 6.
