NHL Prop Bets

Leon Draisaitl Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-120)

Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals gets underway tonight with the Dallas Stars hosting the Edmonton Oilers.

Of the two Conference Finals series, this should be the higher-scoring one, which will point us in a direction for player props. Of the four teams remaining, the Stars (891) have generated the most Total Shot Attempts in all situations, while the Oilers (726) have the third-most in the same situations.

The Oilers will look to step up their offensive pressure and generate plenty of shot attempts. This brings me to Leon Draisaitl, who has the second-most (45) shots on goal through their 12 playoff games.

That's an average of 3.75 per game, which shouldn't be a surprise since he's on the second forward line and the first power-play unit. Draisaitl has been over this 2.5 prop in seven of their 10 games which didn't go to overtime -- an important note since these are 60-minute props in the playoffs.

Wyatt Johnston Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-144)

With quality performances every night, Wyatt Johnston is an emerging star.

At 21-years old, Johnston is proving his merit in the playoffs for the second straight campaign and it's showing up on the scoresheet every night.

Johnston is the center on the top forward line and the first power play unit, which has allowed him to rack up 45 shots on goal in 13 postseason games. He's been over this mark in six of their 10 contests, as three have gone to overtime.

The Stars are at home, which means they have the line change advantage, giving them an opportunity to put Johnston and the top line in favorable offensive matchups. Johnston has been great thus far in the playoffs and will look to maintain that
