NHL Daily Fantasy Picks and Helper: Wednesday 11/8/23

NHL DFS is similar to MLB in terms of how you build lineups, how you view stacking, and how to value players.

Two main points to always focus on in NHL DFS are what lines the players are on and making sure the goalies you are rostering are confirmed as the starters.

Two of the best resources for that are LeftWingLock.com and DailyFaceOff.com. That is where you can find updated forward and power-play lines for each team, along with which goalies are confirmed as the starters.

Let's jump in and take a look at today's slate, find a goalie, some stacks, and some value plays for your NHL DFS lineups on FanDuel.

NHL DFS Picks

Goalie to Target

Sergei Bobrovsky, Panthers ($7,400)

It wasn't a fun experience for those of us who played Sergei Bobrovsky on Monday as he allowed three goals on 22 shots.

Overall, Bobrovsky had been pretty good besides that poor outing. He has saved 0.58 goals above expected on the season even after that bad game.

The good news for Bobrovsky and the Florida Panthers tonight is that they get a pristine matchup. They'll play the Washington Capitals, who have struggled this season. Only the historically bad San Jose Sharks have scored fewer goals per game than Washington has.

Florida is favored in this one, and Bobrovsky has a decent chance of picking up a win while keeping the Capitals at bay. That's more than enough to consider playing him at just $7,400.

Stacks

Toronto Maple Leafs

Boy, did the Toronto Maple Leafs' stack pay off for us on Monday.

Auston Matthews ($10,600) had another multi-goal outing, this time scoring twice instead of reaching a hat trick. He now leads the league with 13 goals in 12 games. Mitchell Marner ($8,400) had his second consecutive game with a goal and three assists, and he looks to finally be going like we know he can.

The true breakout performance was from Matthew Knies ($3,900). He had a goal and two assists in his first game playing on the top line.

The matchup for Toronto is even better tonight than it was on Monday when they scored six goals. They'll face the Ottawa Senators, who have been a mess on and off the ice. They've allowed the sixth-most goals per game and the third-most expected goals at even-strength on a per-60-minute basis.

Toronto has the highest implied team total on the slate (3.61 goals), and this first line should be in a good position to crush it again.

Ottawa Senators

We can also target the other side of this game in what likely will be the best game environment on this short slate.

The Senators may have a leaky defense, but they can score, too. They are fifth in the league in goals per game (3.80). They have nice correlation across their top line, as well.

The newly configured first line is an affordable stack. It has leading goal-scorer Brady Tkachuk ($8,100) on it, and he has scored eight times this season. Josh Norris ($6,100) has recovered nicely from his injury and has seven points in seven games. Drake Batherson ($5,200) hasn't lit things up yet but has scored twice in his last three games.

Toronto hasn't been able to lock things down defensively this season. They've allowed 3.42 goals per game because of a combination of poor goaltending and defense.

It wouldn't be too surprising to see both sides of this game being what you need to take down tournaments tonight.

Value Skaters

Anton Lundell, C, Panthers ($3,800)

Anton Lundell has inherited a great role for the Panthers due to the injury to Sam Bennett.

He gets to play between two 40-goal scorers from last season in Matthew Tkachuk and Carter Verhaeghe. He won't play on the first power play but will see time on the second unit.

He's not the most productive player, but for just $3,800 and in a sweet role, he makes a lot of sense as a salary-relief play.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, C, Capitals ($4,300)

Another center with a great role for a low salary is Evgeny Kuznetsov. Things haven't been pretty for him so far this season, but in theory, he should be able to get things going.

Kuznetsov has just five points in 10 games. He still plays on the first power play, even if he's slipped to the second even-strength line. He's seen a ton of ice time, the third-most on the team and most among forwards.

If Washington is to break out of their scoring funk, it wouldn't be surprising to see Kuznetsov be a great value for $4,300.
