NFL Predictions and Picks for Week 8

Cardinals +6.5 (+100)

Cardinals at Cowboys — 1:00 p.m. ET

Spread

Arizona Cardinals
Nov 1 6:01pm UTCMore odds in Sportsbook

The Arizona Cardinals haven't been consistent this season, but getting nearly a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys is appealing.

Arizona has been competitive away from home, and the Cardinals have covered four of their last six games. Their offense has also been more efficient on the road, completing 69.2% of its passes away from home, compared to 59.7% at home.

Dallas is coming off an impressive win over Philadelphia, but the Cowboys remain difficult to trust as a sizable favorite because of their defense. Dallas ranks near the bottom of the league in several key defensive stats, and that creates an opportunity for Arizona to keep pace offensively even if the Cowboys control most of the game.

With the spread sitting at 6.5, Arizona to cover is my favorite bet of the week.

Bengals -10.5 (-105)

Titans at Bengals — 1:00 p.m. ET

Spread

Cincinnati Bengals
Nov 1 6:01pm UTCMore odds in Sportsbook

The Cincinnati Bengals are laying a big number, but this is one of the week's strongest mismatches.

Cincinnati enters averaging 27.2 points per game, ranking among the NFL's better scoring offenses, while the Tennessee Titans are producing only 15.4 points per contest.

That offensive gap matters even more with Cincinnati at home. The Bengals have enough scoring upside to force Tennessee into a pass-heavy game script — especially now that Tennessee is without star DT Jeffery Simmons — and that's not where the Titans have consistently succeeded this year.

Double-digit NFL spreads always come with risk, but Cincinnati has the clear offensive advantage and should have opportunities to create separation if Tennessee can't sustain drives. This is a spot where I'm comfortable taking the points with a large home favorite.

Dolphins +7.0 (-115)

Patriots at Dolphins — 4:25 p.m. ET

Spread

Miami Dolphins
Nov 1 9:26pm UTCMore odds in Sportsbook

The Miami Dolphins have struggled this season, but a full touchdown at home is enough for me to take a chance on them against the New England Patriots.

One of the biggest reasons is the dramatic home-road split for Drake Maye. Maye has been excellent at home, posting a 117.5 passer rating with 7 touchdowns and only 1 interception across three games.

His road numbers have been much shakier. In four games away from home, Maye has thrown 6 touchdowns against 7 interceptions while posting an 81.7 passer rating. His yards per attempt drops from 9.3 at home to 7.7 on the road.

That doesn't mean Miami suddenly has the better team for this one, but covering seven points on the road inside the division asks a lot of New England. The Dolphins have already shown they can be competitive and are coming off their best showing of the season.

Plus, with the number at 7.0, we can get a push on the key number seven.

NFL Betting FAQ

What Does the Point Spread Mean in NFL Betting?

The point spread is designed to create a handicap between two teams. For example, if a team is listed at -3.5, it needs to win by at least four points for a spread bet on that team to cash. A team listed at +3.5 can either win outright or lose by three points or fewer and still cover the spread.

What Is an Over/Under in NFL Betting?

An over/under — also called a game total — is a wager on the combined number of points scored by both teams. If the total is set at 47.5, an over bet wins if the teams combine for 48 or more points, while an under bet wins if they combine for 47 or fewer.

What Is a Moneyline Bet in the NFL?

A moneyline wager is a bet on which team will win the game outright, regardless of the final margin. Favorites generally have shorter odds, while underdogs typically offer a larger potential return because they are considered less likely to win.

What Should You Consider Before Betting on an NFL Game?

Matchups, injuries, offensive and defensive efficiency, weather, home-field advantage, and recent performance can all be important factors. It's also worth monitoring line movement because NFL odds can change throughout the week as sportsbooks react to injuries, betting activity, and new information.
