In what can be considered the NFL's version of the Final Four, Conference Championship Sunday is on the horizon.
Down to just two sides in each conference, we can now dive into the looming matchups. In the NFC title game, the San Francisco 49ers are set to host the Detroit Lions. Preluding that, we'll see the AFC championship on display with the Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens.
With both contests to be played outdoors this weekend, FanDuel Sportsbook has plenty to offer under the Championship Specials tab. Off the bat, Sunday's "Highest-Scoring Team" odds market catches my interest. When looking at the four teams left in action, we see three of the NFL's top-five scoring offenses from the regular season.
Championship Sunday is steadily approaching, so let us have a look at which side could produce the most points this weekend. Considering that we are currently going through the depths of winter, it would be wise to survey the looming weather forecasts.

NFL Conference Championship Betting: Highest-Scoring Team
San Francisco 49ers (-110)
Hosting the NFC Championship Game for the second time in the past five seasons, the 49ers will prepare for a hyper-scrappy Lions team. Macro-scale, this is a contest that will feature the third-highest scoring offense (49ers) versus the 23rd-scoring defense (Lions).
Including playoffs, San Francisco has scored to the tune of 28.6 points per game (PPG) this season. That is certainly an impressive clip, but they will likely need a larger figure in that department to cash this market. In the Divisional Round, Baltimore earned this same honor by scoring 34 points.
Anyone who watched 49er football this year knows that the unit in Northern California can explode for imposing point totals. Through 17 regular season contests, San Francisco put up at least 40 in three separate games, topping out at 45 against the Arizona Cardinals -- an offensive output more along those lines would ring strong in this highest-scoring team market.
Quarterback Brock Purdy will have his entire offensive cast at hand with one looming question mark; playmaker Deebo Samuel (who exited the Divisional Round with a shoulder issue) is 50-50 for Sunday's NFC title game. From there, offensive All-Pros Trent Williams, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk will still be there to move the rock.
Detroit's defense is stout up front, but the Lions were susceptible to dynamic passing attacks this season. In 2023, only three teams allowed more yardage through the air compared to Motor City. Additionally, the Lions surrendered 7.8 yards per passing attempt (YPA), which was second-worst in the NFL.
Simply, it makes total sense to see the Niners as the favorite (-110 odds) at FanDuel Sportsbook to score the most points on Championship Sunday.
Baltimore Ravens (+280)
As noted, the Ravens were the highest-scoring team of last weekend's Divisional Playoffs. In their most recent contest, Baltimore hosted the Houston Texans only for quarterback Lamar Jackson to light them up with two passing touchdowns along with two rushing scores. By game's end, the Ravens defeated Houston, 34-10.
Baltimore's 4-touchdown, 352-yard performance last Sunday would be a fantastic recipe to replicate. Of course, the Flock will await the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs. It should be noted that this year's AFC Championship Game has a much lower combined total compared to its NFC counterpart (44.5 points for the AFC, 50.5 in the NFC). Perhaps that is due to the chance of rain this weekend at M&T Bank Stadium.
When glancing at the upcoming game projections at numberFire, the score estimates largely mirror the odds at FanDuel Sportsbook. At that, the Ravens are expected to produce the second-highest point total this Sunday; nF has them defeating Kansas City by a score of 25.93-21.07.
With "Action" Jackson taking the snaps, the Ravens are a dynamic group. Everyone in Maryland is still awaiting the return of tight end Mark Andrews (ankle), but Zay Flowers, Isaiah Likely and Rashod Bateman have kept the unit churning. Overall, Baltimore has been the fourth-best offense when it comes to scoring, outputting 28.4 PPG.
Kansas City's defense will certainly prove a formidable challenge for the Ravens' big offensive unit; the Chiefs surrendered only 17.3 PPG this past regular season. Jackson will need to keep his eyes downfield, too. KC gave up the fourth-fewest passing yards in 2023 (6.0 YPA).
Detroit Lions (+500)
Since the NFC title game is being played in California, it will naturally have more comfortable playing conditions than the AFC bid in Maryland.
Sunday's contest at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara is forecasted to have game-time temperatures around 70 degrees (and sunny). Already, that presents a more advantageous scenario here for either San Francisco or Detroit to score the most points this weekend. And with the players Detroit has on offense, the Lions have value in this market at five-to-one odds.
Making his homecoming in the Bay Area, Jared Goff has powered Detroit with his arm and leadership in 2023. The UC Berkeley alum did well to rank as the third-highest passer this past season, throwing for 4,575 yards. Of course, his stout offensive line and dynamic running game provide balance in the attack, but passing to guys like Amon-Ra St. Brown and rookie Sam LaPorta is certainly good for the quarterbacking soul.
Back at numberFire, the NFL game projections indicate the Lions will score 23.68 points in a losing effort. As mentioned, that is less than both San Francisco and Baltimore this week, but Detroit obviously has the propensity for more. Utilizing a strong ground game with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, there's a chance the Honolulu Blue side will control this contest in the trenches.
For the NFC championship, the outcome will likely be decided by Detroit's offense versus San Francisco's defense. Last weekend, the 49ers were gashed by the Green Bay Packers for 136 rushing yards while failing to sack Jordan Love a single time -- something Motor City absolutely noticed.
Kansas City Chiefs (+650)
Somewhat alarmingly, Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs are priced with the longest odds in this highest-scoring market. Through his six seasons as Kansas City's starting signal-caller (all of which have reached the AFC title game), we have not often thought of the Chiefs' offense as a weak spot, but alas, here we are.
Make no mistake: reigning-champions Mahomes and Travis Kelce are certainly dialed in right now. Last Sunday evening, the two connected for two touchdowns in the 27-24 road victory over the Buffalo Bills. Additionally, rookie receiver Rashee Rice has emerged as a dynamic option in the passing game. From there, angry runner Isiah Pacheco powers the ground attack.
Still, KC will be working against two elephants in the room this Sunday; they are traveling to play the top defense in the NFL (Baltimore surrendered just 16.5 PPG in 2023) and conditions could be slick at "The Bank." Of course, even with a dry football, no unit ballhawks quite like the Flock. Through the regular season, the Ravens produced 18 interceptions, which was third-most in the league.
If the Chiefs can stave off their issue with the drops (a statistic they led the league in this past season), they'll stand an authentic shot versus Baltimore. Despite scoring a Mahomes-era worst of 21.8 PPG in 2023, that production has ramped up to 26.5 PPG in the current postseason.
Yielding +650 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to be this weekend's highest scoring team, Kansas City could be worth an extra look here. Simply, the fact that the Chiefs have this generation's ultimate playoff quarterback -- and arguably the best player in the NFL -- taking the snaps, they can never be ruled entirely out.
Still, this Sunday's Chiefs-Ravens clash for the conference has all the makings of an instant classic. Maybe we see these two quarterbacks push each other to the brink.
