Friday's FanDuel NBA DFS slate gives us several ways to build lineups, including elite options at the top and a few midrange plays who can help balance the salary cap.
I’m focusing on players with strong current production, secure roles and favorable situations rather than relying on outside projections.
We've got a bunch of tools here at FanDuel Research that can help with lineup construction. Specifically, our NBA DFS projections update throughout the day to reflect current news, and we also have an NBA player news page.
On top of all that, we'll come at you with this NBA DFS primer, which breaks down some of the day's top plays.
Let's dive into today's main slate on FanDuel.

NBA DFS Picks for Today
Giannis Antetokounmpo, PF, Miami Heat — $11,300
Pacers at Heat — 8:00 p.m. ET
G Antetokounmpo - Pts + Reb + Ast
Giannis Antetokounmpo is my favorite high-salary stud on Friday's slate. He enters a red-carpet matchup versus the Indiana Pacers averaging 27.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 56.7% from the field. That all-around production has translated to 49.5 FanDuel points per game.
The recent form is just as encouraging. Giannis has posted at least 43.7 FanDuel points in four of his first five games, including 60.3 points against Dallas and 54.1 against Atlanta. He also had 24 points and 18 rebounds in his most recent outing. That combination of scoring, rebounding and playmaking gives him one of the highest raw fantasy ceilings on the slate.
Cade Cunningham, PG, Detroit Pistons — $9,700
Pistons at Nets — 7:30 p.m. ET
Cade Cunningham has been one of the most consistent top-tier FanDuel options to start the season. He is averaging 22.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.8 assists through five games, coming out to an average of 44.8 FanDuel points per game.
Cunningham has also shown a strong ceiling recently. He finished with 30 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals against Charlotte on Wednesday, producing 51.5 FanDuel points. He has now topped 40 FanDuel points in three of his last four games, and his combination of scoring and assists gives him multiple ways to pile up fantasy production tonight against the porous defense of the Brooklyn Nets.
Karl-Anthony Towns, C, New York Knicks — $8,500
Knicks at 76ers — 7:30 p.m. ET
Karl-Anthony Towns - Rebounds
Karl-Anthony Towns is one of my favorite upper midrange plays. Through five games, Towns is averaging 21.8 points, 13.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists while shooting 58.3% from the field.
The rebounding production stands out in particular. Towns has recorded at least 13 rebounds in three of his first five games, including a 27-point, 20-rebound performance against Detroit. He followed that with 19 points, 13 rebounds and five assists against Chicago, so he's coming into Friday’s date with the Philadelphia 76ers with back-to-back double-doubles and plenty of peripheral production.
Scottie Barnes, SF/PF, Toronto Raptors — $8,900
Magic at Raptors — 7:30 p.m. ET
Scottie Barnes - Pts + Reb + Ast
Scottie Barnes is an appealing option because of his ability to contribute across the stat sheet. He is averaging 19.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists through four games, along with 2.0 steals per game.
Toronto is 3-1 entering Friday’s date with the Orlando Magic, and Kawhi Leonard is out for this matchup, leaving Barnes as one of the team's primary sources of size, playmaking and offensive volume.
The Raptors’ forward is averaging 30.3 minutes per game and is already contributing in rebounds, assists and steals, which gives him a strong DFS profile beyond his scoring.
Ayo Dosunmu, SG, Minnesota Timberwolves — $6,000
Clippers at Timberwolves — 8:00 p.m. ET
Ayo Dosunmu - Pts + Reb + Ast
Ayo Dosunmu is one my favorite value plays tonight. He's averaging 13.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists on 49.1% shooting, and his current FanDuel salary is just $6,000.
His most recent game showed the upside he has now that Anthony Edwards is sidelined. Dosunmu played 31.9 minutes against Golden State and finished with 17 points, four assists, four rebounds and four steals, which was good for 38.6 FanDuel points.
With Ant out, Minnesota has additional room for players such as Dosunmu to take on meaningful offensive and ball-handling responsibilities.
