    • Dodgers: -184

Best Bet

White Sox Under 3.5 Runs (-125)

The Los Angeles Dodgers (50-31) will look to complete the series sweep over the Chicago White Sox (21-60) this evening, and LAD's -184 moneyline odds indicate that we might be heading in that direction.

Chicago is one of the worst teams we've seen in a while, coming in with a -168 run differential (worst in MLB) in comparison to the Dodgers' +116 run differential (second-best).

From a betting perspective, it seems we are getting the best value by targeting the under on ChiSox's team run total.

Gavin Stone will be on the bump for Los Angeles. He comes in with a 3.04 ERA, 3.75 xERA, and 4.32 SIERA. His muted 19.1% K% isn't all that impressive, but he is holding opponents to just 0.68 home runs per nine innings.

The righty has posted a 2.10 ERA across his last five starts and should fare well in a matchup against a dismal Chicago offense.

The White Sox are generating a .218 BA, .277 OBP, .343 SLG, .275 wOBA, and 76 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers, all of which rank dead-last in MLB.

A date with the White Sox has proven fruitful for a large portion of opposing starting pitchers, and Stone's recent play has me confident that he can prove limiting tonight. Past Stone, LAD's bullpen sports a 3.02 ERA (2nd-best in MLB), 3.62 SIERA (12th), and 1.06 WHIP (2nd).

The Dodgers have surrendered under 3.5 runs in 10 out of 14 of Stone's starts this season. Chicago, meanwhile, has scored under 3.5 runs in 64.2% of their games this year (52 out of 81 contests). These -125 odds imply just a 55.6% probability, so we're getting a pretty decent shake by backing a characteristic quiet night for the Sox.

Best Prop

Gavin Stone Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+136)

Given the circumstances leading into this game and the matchup, it could be worthwhile to back Stone in this market.

Although the Dodgers held the White Sox to just three runs in last night's victory, starter Bobby Miller lasted just two innings in his second appearance since returning from the IL. This forced Los Angeles to call on an uncharacteristic six relief pitchers last night after using four bullpen throwers the night before.

LAD's bullpen isn't exactly fresh, so I wouldn't be surprised if we see Stone have a slightly longer-than-normal leash in what should be an easy matchup.

Stone has recorded over 18.5 outs in only 5 out of 14 starts, missing by the hook on three occasions.

However, he's met up with just two teams that rank in the bottom 10 of OBP versus northpaws and managed to record 21 outs in each of these starts. He's also faced only four teams that rank in the bottom half of batting average versus righties and recorded 21 outs in all but one of these starts.

Chicago's league-worst BA, OBP, wOBA, SLG, and 6.9% walk rate (second-lowest) suggests that Stone could fly through batters in this one, and we've seen him do just that against poor offenses this year.
