MLB SGP Bets for Monday 7/22/24

Cincinnati Reds at Atlanta Braves

Hunter Greene to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-265)
Reynaldo Lopez to Record 5+ Strikeouts (-430)
Elly De La Cruz to Record a Stolen Base (+174)

Combined Odds: +328

With FanDuel Sportsbook offering a Same Game Parlay promo for MLB tonight, it's a good time to consider an SGP.

The Atlanta Braves have become a team to target for strikeouts recently, and they'll face Hunter Greene on Monday. Besides having the fifth-lowest wOBA (.288) and fourth-lowest wRC+ (83) against right-handed pitching in the last 30 days, the Braves have the fifth-highest strikeout rate (25.8%) during that span.

As for Greene, the hard-throwing righty for the Cincinnati Reds ranks in the 83rd percentile in whiff rate (30.1%) and 82nd percentile in strikeout rate (27.6%) through 19 starts. Greene has logged six-plus Ks in five of his last seven outings -- including each of his last three.

On the other side, Reynaldo Lopez also draws a solid matchup on the bump for Atlanta. While Cincinnati boasts the highest ISO (.229) versus right-handed pitching over the last 30 days, they also have the 10th-highest strikeout rate (23.8%) in that span.

Even though Lopez is susceptible to giving up hard contact, he's in the 66th percentile in strikeout rate (24.6%) across 17 starts. Before recording only two strikeouts against the San Diego Padres -- who have the lowest strikeout rate (18.2%) against right-handed pitching -- his last time out, Lopez had five-plus Ks in each of his previous seven starts.

Elly De La Cruz is always a threat to swipe a bag when he gets on base for the Reds. De La Cruz leads the majors with 48 stolen bases, and Lopez has given up at least one stolen base in five of his last six contests.

There are potential weather issues for Monday's Reds-Braves clash, so keep an eye on any updates throughout the day.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Kansas City Royals

Yilber Diaz Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-113)
Bobby Witt Jr. to Record 2+ Total Bases (-175)
Salvador Perez to Record an RBI (+105)

Combined Odds: +396

Through his first two starts for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Yilber Diaz is registering only a 15.6% strikeout rate and 8.2% swinging strike rate. After racking up five Ks in his debut, Diaz tallied only two Ks in his last appearance.

While Diaz was a high-strikeout pitcher in the minors, the matchup isn't favorable against the Kansas City Royals. The Royals have the fourth-lowest strikeout rate (19.2%) versus right-handed pitching this season, and they just scored six-plus runs in two of their three matchups versus the Chicago White Sox at home.

One of the reasons why Kansas City's offense has been on fire out of the All-Star break is the fact Bobby Witt Jr. is seeing the ball extremely well. Witt has three hits in each of his first three games since taking part in the Home Run Derby.

With Witt and the other early lineup hitters on the Royals getting on base often, Salvador Perez has a decent chance to record an RBI. Perez has posted an RBI in five of his last eight games, and he's registering a .246 ISO or higher and a .361 wOBA or higher versus Diaz's two primary pitches (four-seam fastball and slider) against right-handed hitters.

Entering Monday's contest, Perez has +420 odds to hit a home run while Witt has +480 odds in the same market.

Boston Red Sox at Colorado Rockies

Austin Gomber Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-138)
Ceddanne Rafaela to Record a Hit (-270)
Ezequiel Tovar to Record 2+ Total Bases (-130)

Combined Odds: +302

Left-handed pitchers have struck out the Boston Red Sox at a high clip this season as Boston is sporting the highest strikeout rate (29.4%) versus southpaws. At the same time, Austin Gomber isn't much of a strikeout pitcher for the Colorado Rockies.

Along with being in the 19th percentile in xERA (4.78), Gomber is in the 11th percentile in xBA (.277), 8th percentile in strikeout rate (16.1%), and 15th percentile in barrel rate (9.8%). Aside from allowing three-plus earned runs in seven of his last eight starts, Gomber has achieved five-plus Ks in only 5 of his 18 starts in 2024.

Despite Ceddanne Rafaela typically hitting out of the nine hole for the Red Sox, he has at least one hit in each of his first three games out of the All-Star break. Rafaela is also logging a solid .320 wOBA, 101 wRC+, and .174 ISO against left-handed pitchers this year.

While Tanner Houck isn't usually a pitcher we want to pick on, Ezequiel Tovar is swinging a hot bat, and Houck is showing reverse splits on the bump. Houck is permitting a .274 wOBA and 1.11 WHIP to righties, compared to a .231 wOBA and 0.97 WHIP to lefties.

Meanwhile, Tovar is amid an eight-game hitting streak while achieving multiple hits in five consecutive contests. Even though Houck doesn't give up many long balls, it's worth mentioning that Tovar is carrying +600 odds to hit a home run and has popped four homers across his last three outings.
