MLB Same Game Parlay Bets for Monday 5/6/24

Los Angeles Angels at Pittsburgh Pirates

Tyler Anderson to Record 4+ Strikeouts (-400)
Mitch Keller to Record 5+ Strikeouts (-250)
Alternate Total Runs: Under 7.5 (-102)

Combined Odds: +197

For Monday's showdown between the Los Angeles Angels and Pittsburgh Pirates, we'll be backing the pitchers for both teams in our first SGP. Taking Tyler Anderson to record four-plus Ks versus the Pirates has less to do about his strikeout ability than the matchup.

Anderson is in just the 23rd percentile in strikeout rate (18.5%), but he is in the 79th percentile in chase rate (31.7%) and 62nd percentile in whiff rate (27.5%). The experienced southpaw has also pitched at least six innings and posted four-plus strikeouts in four of his first six starts in 2024.

As for the Pirates, they are currently logging the fifth-highest strikeout rate (25.8%) versus lefties. Additionally, Pittsburgh's projected lineup for Monday's contest has six players who are recording a 28% or higher strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season.

Meanwhile, Mitch Keller also draws a favorable matchup on the mound. Although it has been a rocky start to the season for Keller, he has seven Ks in back-to-back games, and he's achieved five-plus strikeouts in four of his first seven starts.

FanDuel Research's Austan Kas has Keller's over 5.5 strikeouts listed as one of his favorite strikeout props on Monday.

When it comes to strikeouts, the Angels are registering the eighth-highest strikeout rate (24.6%) against right-handed pitchers. Los Angeles' lineup is also much-less daunting with Mike Trout on the IL for the foreseeable future.

By backing both pitchers in the strikeout department, we'll also take the alternate total of under 7.5 runs. The Pirates have been in a game with fewer than eight runs scored in eight of their last nine contests while the Angels have produced one run in three of their last four games sans Trout.

Milwaukee Brewers at Kansas City Royals

Cole Ragans to Record 6+ Strikeouts (-230)
Bobby Witt Jr. to Record a Run (-150)
First 5 Innings Result: Kansas City Royals (-115)

Combined Odds: +252

Cole Ragans is poised for a stellar start on the mound on Monday for the Kansas City Royals. The left-handed strikeout artist for the Royals has posted seven-plus Ks in four of his first seven starts, and the Milwaukee Brewers appear to be a team to target for strikeouts when facing lefties.

The Brewers have the eighth-highest strikeout rate (25.5%) versus southpaws this season. On the other hand, Ragans is in the 76th percentile in chase rate (31.2%), 79th percentile in whiff rate (30.6%), and 82nd percentile in strikeout rate (28.9%).

Through his first seven starts, Ragans' 14.1% swinging strike rate is also on par with the swinging strike rate he produced in his impressive finish to the 2023 campaign.

While Ragans should have success against a Milwaukee team that struggles when facing left-handed pitching, Bobby Witt Jr. and Kansas City's lineup should be effective versus Bryse Wilson. Wilson is in the 41st percentile in xERA (4.14), 17th percentile in chase rate (23.6%), and 18th percentile in whiff rate (19.9%) with three starts and nine total appearances under his belt in 2024.

Witt has been one of the hottest hitters in the early going, posting a .418 wOBA, .237 ISO, and 169 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers. The speedy shortstop -- who has typically been hitting out of the No. 2 spot in Kansas City's lineup -- has also recorded a run in six consecutive contests and in eight of his last nine.

Along with taking Ragans and Witt to have notable performances, we'll place confidence in the Royals to secure a lead in the first five innings. Kansas City has held a lead or been tied in five of Ragans' first seven starts this year.

Miami Marlins at Los Angeles Dodgers

Shohei Ohtani to Record 2+ Total Bases (-145)
Will Smith to Record an RBI (+115)

Combined Odds: +255

Roddery Munoz has enjoyed a fantastic start to his career in the majors, permitting a combined three earned runs and five hits while striking out 14 total batters in his first two starts for the Miami Marlins. That being said, Munoz will be tasked with trying to limit the lethal lineup of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.

The Dodgers are my favorite team to stack in MLB DFS with the best wOBA (.360), wRC+ (136), and ISO (.190) versus right-handed pitching this season. Shohei Ohtani has been unbelievable since making the switch from Los Angeles teams, accruing the best wOBA (.531), wRC+ (251), and ISO (.415) against righties among players with 50-plus plate appearances this year.

The hard-hitting lefty has a hit in seven of his last eight contests, totaling three multi-hit performances and four HRs in that span. Given his recent stretch of success at the plate, it's worth noting that Ohtani has the shortest odds to hit a home run (+210) for Monday's Marlins-Dodgers clash.

Aside from Ohtani, Will Smith is another member of the Dodgers who has gotten off to a fantastic start in 2024. With Smith spending most of his time hitting behind Mookie Betts, Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman, he has tallied the second-most RBIs (26) for Los Angeles thus far.

Additionally, Smith has recorded at least one RBI in five straight games and in eight of his last 10.
