With two players as prominent as these two, the opportunities for each should be coming early and often. It's why we're rolling with Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid to combine for 4+ points as a bet to consider.

On the season, Matthews has recorded 48 points in 40 games -- on track for around 100 points on the year. McDavid, on the other hand, is doing what he does in terms of racking up stats. Through 37 games, McDavid ranks 7th in the NHL with 57 points. Considering he's played seven fewer games than everyone above him, he very well could be leading the league if he avoided injury earlier in the campaign.

Nonetheless, combining for 4+ points feels quite possible for these two. Matthews has been held scoreless in two straight games. He's going to break through sooner than later. The Maple Leafs' star forward is averaging 4.33 shots on goal per game and leads the NHL with 33 goals -- this is his wheelhouse to score.

McDavid hasn't been held scoreless in quite some time. The 27-year-old is in the midst of a 10-game scoring streak, recording 16 points in that span. He's got a five-point game in that run, as well, reminding us that he could get us there tonight all by himself if need be.

If this game is high scoring (over/under set at 6.5), it shouldn't be hard for them to deliver tonight.

Matthews and McDavid Combine for 2+ Goals (+100)

Scoring goals is something these two do very well, so why not bank on 2+ scores from them tonight?

Along with winning the Hart Trophy the last two seasons, they also are the past two winners of the Rocket Richard Trophy for most goals in a season. Matthews is leading the NHL in the 2023-24 season with 33 goals while McDavid has posted only 16 thus far.

As noted earlier, Matthews is averaging 4.33 shots on goal, which should continue to help play to what we're looking for tonight from him. McDavid is averaging 3.11 shots on goal per game, so it's not out of the question that he can make some noise. Over his last four games, he's recorded seven or more shots twice. That trend would be beneficial in what very well could be a high-scoring tilt tonight.

numberFire's model is projecting the Oilers to finish with 3.56 goals, and the Maple Leafs are expected to finish with 3.03. That's enough to feel good about these two stars recording a goal each -- at least.
