Kings vs. Warriors Game 6 Analysis
After four consecutive victories by home teams to start the series, the Kings blinked first and allowed the Warriors to secure a critical away win in Game 5. Golden State's road struggles have been well documented -- their abysmal 11-30 record on the road this season (26.8 win percentage) was fourth-worst in the NBA. The Kings' best chance at winning this series centered on holding serve at home, which they failed to do.
Now they are forced to travel back to the Chase Center, where the Warriors have been excellent all season. Golden State's home win percentage of 80.5% was third-best in the league this season. The Warriors' offense is slightly improved at home as they average 119.7 points per home game, compared to 118.2 points per away game. But their defense has been the difference maker. At home during the regular season, Golden State allowed just 111.7 points per game. On the road, that number jumped to 122.5, second-most in the league.
The Kings' 118.0 points per away game this season ranked second-best, behind only Golden State. In Games 3 and 4, they had mixed results, scoring just 97 points in Game 3 before improving to 125 in Game 4. To steal Game 6 on the road and force a Game 7 back in Sacramento, the Kings will likely need to score above their regular season average and make some clutch plays down the stretch.
