Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Penn State TE Brenton Strange 61st Overall
Through 61 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, we saw six tight ends drafted.
The latest of the six was Penn State tight end Brenton Strange, who was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 61st pick.
Brenton Strange NFL Draft Profile
Some college tight ends don't see a lot of volume, and that's the case for Brenton Strange, who totaled just 70 catches, 775 yards, and 11 touchdowns through four years (32 games) at Penn State.
Understandably, his production metrics are a little underwhelming even accounting for his position.
The model at Next Gen Stats ranked his production 12th among this class alone, and my model has his production metrics below the 50th percentile.

Brenton Strange in Jacksonville
In 2022, the Jaguars' offense ranked eighth in overall adjusted offense, according to numberFire's expected points model. That included the 5th-best passing unit -- but the 24th-best rushing offense.
Strange, despite a lack of receiving production, doesn't necessarily have good pass-block grades from PFF.
The overall appeal for strange is general athleticism, and other than Evan Engram, the Jaguars have very little in the way of tight end potential.
