Verdict

There was plenty of promise in SPADESTEP's Aintree chase debut second and he should prove hard to beat, especially given that it's reasonable to anticipate improvement with that run under his belt. Quantock Hills has a handy 4-y-o allowance and is also likely to step up on what he showed first time out over fences, while Rock On Jet is a live each-way candidate, along with chase debutant My Noble Lord. Throatlash and Wotter Trotter both possess some potential for the medium-to-long-term.

Spadestep (Ire) silk

Successful sole start in points and made it third time lucky over hurdles on his reappearance at Hexham in October. Solid opener in this sphere when finding just one too good in an Aintree handicap (15.8f, good) later that month and he's a major player with improvement likely. Tongue strap added.

Quantock Hills (Fr) silk

Fairly useful winner in France and good start for this yard when winning juvenile hurdles at Fontwell and Cheltenham (dead-heated on latter occasion) last winter. Failed to meet expectations (sent off 13/8 favourite) on return/chase debut at Newton Abbot (16.3f, soft), but he's capable of better.

Rock On Jet (Ire) silk

Found some improvement fitted with hood when making all in 2m Ayr handicap hurdle in the mud in January. Promising start over fences there the following month (also performed well back hurdling at Hexham when last seen in March; since undergone a wind op) and may well build on that here.
