BAK DE ACE (1) is a slow-maturing but promising gelding who set the pace at Otaki fresh up, and was only caught in the final stages when finishing second by a neck behind a smart type. He cops a wide gate here, but will relish the extra furlong. Stick with him, and follow your money. VOLUNTEER (8) has had no luck off a couple of wide gates in decent fields at Ellerslie. He gets a big swing in his draw this time, and Craig Grylls will keep the faith. He is a sound top 3 chance in this. MISISSIPI GAMBLER (10) has followed up her sound trial form with a couple of solid efforts to open her career. She tries a mile third up for the first time, and even though she is bred for further, she can have a say in the outcome of this race. Each way. ROCCADONNA (13) has been heading the right way with her form, and was a fast finishing third at Tauranga 4 weeks ago. The extra ½f means she could have the last say this time. COSMIC PURSUIT (2) is a progressive gelding with each-way claims again.
