Verdict

JAEGER (14) has been racing his way quickly through the grades, and will face open-class for the first time here. He held out a strong finisher late when scoring by a head at New Plymouth nearly 3 weeks ago, and that form has since been franked. He is again well-placed at the weights, and should go close to winning again. BRIGHT STRIPES (11) was put aside after winning fresh up here in his first start in New Zealand at the end of May. He has had 2 trials to get ready, and from a handy gate, with a light weight, he can take this out. JOSHUA BROWN (8) fought on gamely off a freshen up when finishing second by a head at Te Aroha last start, and he will be hoping to take up a prominently spot early on in this as well. Include in all top 4 combos to be safe. WHAT YOU WISH FOR (5) is a talented gelding resuming from a spell over a trip that is short of his best. He has trialled up twice, and should be kept safe. SPENCER (2) is capable of causing an upset in this, so don't risk him.
