Verdict

LONG ISLAND (9) was only beaten by a nose at Ellerslie 2 weeks ago, and she is bred to relish the step up to a middle distance for the first time. She goes on top for us in this field. PLAYINASANDPIT (10) resumed with a gutsy effort for third at Te Aroha nearly 2 weeks ago over 1 ?m. She revels in wet ground and should pick up her first win at short notice. THE DARZI (2) came home with a rush along the fence here in her penultimate start when finishing runner-up, and then made up plenty to finish fourth at Ellerslie a fortnight ago. Stick with her with an extra 2 ½f to travel this time. Each way. SATOMI (1) has turned a corner in his last couple of runs, and he benefits from a 4lbs claim this time. His stable has a good record when trekking their team to this course. ARKADUS (3) ran a much better race last time out when finishing third on the Cambridge poly track last time out.
