SHAMBO JACK (1) showed plenty of talent as a juvenile without winning, and he looks to have furnished nicely over his spell, winning a recent trial here with something left in the tank. On top for us fresh up. LIT SHOW (2) improved again from an encouraging debut effort to finish runner-up at Te Aroha nearly 4 weeks ago. He cops a tricky gate, but he is still expected to figure in the finish here. SPIRIT OF ARDSLEY (3) was a well beaten third in a 5-horse field at Tauranga nearly 6 weeks ago, and he should continue to make progress with more racing. This field is not deep, so include him in all top 4 combos. CONISTON (4) has won his last 3 trials on the bounce, and he has some breeding to live up to. He will probably want more ground than 6f, but he has picked a nice race to make his debut. Follow any money trails. WORKOUT (5) makes his debut from an astute stable and he has improved in each of his public trials, winning the latest of those last month. Watch closely.
