ELIUD (6) looked to be very promising earlier in his career and was sold to Hong Kong, where things did not pan out as they should have. He is happy to be back home, and he has looked in good condition at a couple of tune-up trials. He will probably need the run, but we are not taking that risk. LA PRIMA DAMA (12) has been patiently handled, and she resumed with a stylish all the way win here nearly 3 weeks ago. She has plenty of scope, and with 6lbs less to carry, she can repeat the dose. HOORAH HENRY (3) won 2 nice races on the bounce here before finishing fifth over 1m on this track last time out. Dropping back to 7f will do her no harm, and she has each-way claims again. DOLLYBIRD (9) doesn't mind a fight, and her chances improve when the tracks are at their worst. She needed her last start at Waipukurau, and will be spot on for this assignment. Each way value. BELLES FATE (7) was trapped wide throughout last time out, and has a better draw this time. Don't drop her yet.

Main Track Only

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.

Pari-Mutuel

A pool style wagering system, where all money input through betting is divided among those with winning tickets (save for various deductions by the track operators).

Exercise Rider

A rider built much like a jockey but is employed for exercising and working out horses in the morning.
