Verdict

We had to wait a week but suspect it'll all be worth it. SIR NOW (4) hasn't landed a blow this prep but is absolutely humming along. He was beaten only a neck last start despite being 7 weeks between runs, and the return to the trials since will have topped him off beautifully. He's cherry-ripe now and ready to get his just deserts. KLABEL (1) was beaten 2L in this race last year by Prairie Flower but arrives in top order after winning the key lead-up, edging out Watchme Win in the Christmas Handicap. Drawn sticky but should be right in the thick of it. Last year's winner PRAIRIE FLOWER (9) knows what it takes and is sure to be launching late once more. Tick-over trial has her ready to fire. SGHIRRIPA (2) hasn't shown his best this campaign but has his share of ability. He drops back to his pet trip after 63 days and is a five-time winner at the track. Dismissing him would be dangerous. GREAT MAXIMUS (5) will be hoping for a hot tempo so he can launch late.
