Verdict

BAGANOV (1) is a lightly raced galloper fitter for one run back. Returned over 6 ½f at Bendigo and rolled along in front, being run over late when placed and beaten a length. Fitter and extra trip a plus. Has good early speed and is the one to run down. TASSADAR (7) was good fresh when fourth at Echuca then featured heavily in the stewards' report when last there last time. Knuckled at the start, was stuck in traffic in inferior going and never tested in the straight. Gets a chance to atone. CARNIVAL RICHES (9) resumes and probably better over a bit further but maiden win was this trip. Nicely weighted with the claim and will be winding up late. STRONGSIDE (3) was fair fresh off a long spell and will be much fitter for it. Same goes for MAHMUDAH (6) who can improve sharply second-up.

Underlay

A horse that is going off at lower odds than it deserves based on performance.

Main Track Only

A horse entered for main track only (MTO) is one hoping the weather forecast or track conditions will move the race off the turf course and onto the main track. They are scratched the morning of the race if the conditions stay dry.

Bobble/Stumble

A slip or a duck from a horse trying to leave the starting gates, often caused by the surface giving way under the feet. This can range from a mild misstep to a stumble down to their knees.
