He showed plenty of ability in some strong 2yo races, second in the Byerley Handicap over 1 ?m at Flemington before the break. This looks a good trip for him to kick off in. MATAWAI (3) has run fourth in both efforts back from a spell, good in BM70 company behind a progressive winner last time at Sandown Lakeside. Back a notch here, she should be ready to peak. BUTTERNUT PRINCESS (12) ran well in a rich race fresh at Cranbourne. It was a messy finish there but she's certainly good enough at this level. CURSE IT (10) resumes having shown plenty of ability in three runs last time in. He may get further in time. CHOCOLATE ROYAL (4) resumes with each-way claims.
