Verdict

WASHINGTON LILAC (11) looked a run short first-up and then stepped up to 7 ½f at Caulfield Heath beaten 2L racing handy. The well-bred filly is still well shy of her best and fitter again can take this out. PEEAITCHDEE (1) resumed in the same race beaten a long neck. He's now placed 7/8 including 2/2 second-up. The extra metres suit and will be right in the finish. TALKIN' STERN (9) missed a half length at Pakenham over 7f after being forced to race wide throughout. On that effort he deserves plenty of consideration. Draws inside today and should enjoy a softer run. AMAZAKE (4) resumes and is Group placed over more ground. May need the outing, but he has plenty of ability and two Cranbourne jumpouts under the saddle. The betting will be key.
