Verdict

Tricky staying race. WOLFOFFITROYSTREET (6) broke through for a narrow maiden win at Ballarat Synthetic at the seventh time of asking and had been sharply up in trip there, clearly relishing the stamina test. Up further now should suit better and he can go on with it. WINSTON (3) continues to race well but finds it tough to win, third here last time out in a near identical affair. He'll roll across and take catching again. BATOKA CHIEF (7) can mix form a bit but was good in town last time behind Shultzy which is solid form for this. Tricky draw but look for him late. HAALAND (1) has been sound in three runs back and has each way claims, also respecting THUNDERBOLT WAY (5) who was somewhat of a surprise winner here last time but goes in.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Tack

The equipment the horse wears, including saddle and bridle. A jockey typically has their own racing saddle, placed on each horse they ride just before the race.

Handicap

A race where a handicapper has assigned weights to be carried by all runners on the basis of their past racing efforts.

State-Bred

A horse bred in a particular state and thus eligible to race in restricted state-bred races. These can be anything from maiden races to stakes events.
