Verdict

Fascinating runner RED LINE FEVER (9), who did nothing last prep, but ran some nice races in the debut campaign. Recent trial win over the smart Beskar suggests she might be poised to return to that form and does have Yendall. LAPLAND (4) scored two back at Mornington but was below his best last time when 11th over 6f at Pakenham. Suitably placed here, so expecting a better run this time from the gun draw. BONFIRE JIMMY (3) comes through the same race as Lapland and beat that rival home that night so if you think Lapland can bounce back you've probably got to concede Jimmy a chance. SHANGHAI VENTURE (10) rarely runs a poor race and while this is tougher than recent assignments she's drawn to get every chance. HUGHIE (5) has a nightmare gate to overcome, but has early speed and it can often be an advantage to be on-pace here, so he's likely to know his fate early.
