Verdict

Onto our feature of the day and COSMIC CRUSADER (7) will take a power of beating. He made his Melbourne debut in the Bletchingly Stakes and ripped home off a slow speed over 6f to win dominantly. He's a G1 winner in Perth who is on an upwards spiral and with the run under the belt he's the one to beat. FEROCE (6) might be a danger at bigger odds. First up last campaign it took Tom Kitten to run him down over this route, beaten a head, and his prior run over this route was third to Sepals in a G1 Rupert Clarke. Can see him sitting midfield and swooping late. EVAPORATE (2) resumes. He had no luck in this race behind PRIVATE EYE (1) who led at a very slow speed and won well. Private Eye is a warrior but was possibly going a touch better this time last year. Evaporate will roll across and was tough in the G1 Futurity first up this route last campaign. DESERT LIGHTNING (4) maps ideally at his pet trip and should run well for exotics.
