Verdict

PROMISED LAND (3) is a distance specialist who is progressing well this preparation. Opened with a fourth at Pakenham two starts back then landed the prize by a nose as favourite last time out over 1m at the same track. Finds a suitable assignment and can continue the winning form. PENTLE BAY (4) is an import who ran second at Royal Ascot this time last year. Finished out of the money but was not too far away when resuming last start over 7 ½f at Caulfield Heath and will appreciate a drop in grade. DARK SIMBA (6) returned in the same race as Pentle Bay and he was only half-a-length off that galloper. He'll also be better for that run but hasn't drawn quite as well. CHARMING DEEL (12) ran below expectations last time at Caulfield Heath, finishing fifth and beaten 3 lengths, but gave a sight at Warrnambool over the carnival and can give a sight on speed. DRAGOON's (1) form looks terrible, but they've been in better races than this, so he can improve fourth-up.
