WINWOOD (6) won a trial before finishing a fair fifth on debut at Matamata 3 weeks ago, in a run that must have impressed Opie Bosson as he has kept the ride. With any luck from a tricky gate, he can continue to improve, and a top 3 finish would not surprise. SALTBURN (4) failed to fire here over 1 5/16m, and for now he is best being kept to the shorter trips. He has a good draw, and he is worth another chance. AWAKEN (8) did nothing on debut 5 weeks ago after some reasonable trial form leading into his debut. Craig Grylls in the saddle this time is a nice lead, so include him in all top 4 combos. CIVIL WAR (7) just battled when making his debut on a heavy track at Tauranga 18 days ago. He won a trial before that, and can make amends.
