Verdict

HOWLIN WOLF continued a theme of race-by-race progression when opening his account on nursery debut at the Curragh recently and with better still to come, Jack Davison's charge earns the tentative nod to follow up. There are plenty of nursery debutants in opposition however, Supreme Lord and Prince of Peppard the pair put forward to chase him home before the benefit of market clues.

Improved with each run and took a sizeable step forward to get off the mark switched to nurseries in 8-runner event at the Curragh 11 days ago, benefiting as expected from the return to 6f and probably helped by bagging the stand side rail. 7 lb higher mark to defy but should go close.

Supreme Lord (Ire) silk

Promise when third on 6f Fairyhouse debut early last month. Well held when fast tracked to Group company next start and again failed to convince with his stamina for 7f when fifth of 11 in maiden at the Curragh 18 days ago. Could make more of an impact dropped back in trip for nursery bow.

Prince Of Peppard (Ire) silk

Proving consistent rather than progressive, in first-time cheekpieces when seventh of 12 in maiden at Roscommon (7.5f, good) 9 days ago. Returns to a sprint trip and likely to be seen in better light now tackling a nursery. Trainer/jockey combination won this last year.
