MARINERS ROSE (3) has been competitive of late and kept the ball rolling last time when 1.5 metres from the winner in second over 1 ³/16m at Rangiora. A nice draw on the front line should ensure a cosy run. Good enough to take out a race like this. CAPTAIN TYRON (11) made a good start to his career a week-and-a-half ago, beaten a neck into second over 1m at Mt Harding. May just need a bit of luck at some point from this difficult draw. FRANCO ANKARA (6) is next best after finishing third when resuming over 1m at Mt Harding last time out. NIKOLAI RAY (9) is in the mix following a sixth at his most recent appearance over 1m at Mt Harding.
