RENA (1) has been competitive of late and kept the ball rolling last time when 2.25 metres from the winner in second over 1 ¼m at Addington. Sure to enjoy an economical run from this draw. On top for us. TAUMUTU LAD (7) won at Phar Lap Racecourse two runs ago before finishing sixth at his latest appearance over 1 ¼m at Motukarara Raceway, beaten 5 metres. Will need a bit of luck negotiating a very wide starting position. Meets a similar lineup and he is capable of a much better performance. CLASSIE LINC (2) is better than her last-start ninth over 1 ?m at Addington. CARRERA BANDIDO (10) had no luck last time out, and he is also in contention, although the draw makes his job a bit tougher.

Claiming Race

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

Fractions

The times recorded during the race; with timing starting just past the gate or when the gates open, then parroted for the quarter, half, three-quarters etc. Used as an indication of ability and speed.

Bleeder

A horse that bleeds due to a ruptured blood vessel during a race or workout. The medication Lasix can fix this problem.
