Verdict

OVERSHOOT (11) is the top pick after closing strongly into fifth at Coonabarabran, beaten two and a half lengths in a large maiden field when sent out at long odds. Her Queanbeyan fifth before that was also competitive, beaten a length and a half on soft ground, and she has a 3lbs claim for a stable ranked strongly at this track. ARGYLE SPRINGS (9) is the main danger after going under by a head at Forbes as a well-supported favourite, with the lost gear passing the ¾f adding merit to that near miss. ANDERS DIAMOND (7) still has to prove himself at around 6f, but he strips fitter second-up, gets a 3lbs claim and has Jacob Stiff, the top-ranked jockey for wins at this track, aboard. COMBY (10) has been safely held in two runs but caught the eye late on debut and is fitter third-up. Can improve enough to be a place-to-win fringe hope if the extra ground brings her on.
