Verdict

Consistent gelding SHAMEDY (4) brings the right form to this year's Walcha Cup. Gave away a big start but got very close last time out in the Glen Innes Cup over a similar distance. Boasts five wins from 11 tries at this trip and is perfectly placed to add to that record today. VORACIOUS (1) has been kept fresh since leading all the way to take out the Inverell Cup over 7f on New Year's Day. Distance specialist who has his share of weight but can just roll along and give them something to catch. MYSTERY LAD (2) chased hard but couldn't reel in Voracious at Inverell two back but does get a 2.5 kg weight swing here. Forget a subsequent failure at Canterbury - he is right in this. YOUTH SPIRIT (3) is a shadow of the horse that won a Group 3 in the UK as a three-year-old and contested an Epsom Derby. Watch the betting first-up from a ten-month spell. ZAMBORGHINI (7) hasn't won for a long while but his recent effort at Tamworth was an improvement.
