Verdict

Only five runners but a very nice race. ASTRONOMIX (4) won in town on debut then ran on well but was anchored a bit under 60.5kgs over this distance at Gosford last time. Drops 3kgs and McDonald returns so he is nicely placed to get the job done. FIERCE (7) maintained his unbeaten record when comfortably home first-up over 5f at Wyong last time out. Facing a stiffer test and drawn a little awkwardly but should progress further and play a key role. Another yet to taste defeat is BANJORA (2) who scored with a bit in hand when fresh from a spell over 5f at Gosford recently. Gets a gun run from the inside stall so he gets every chance to keep the record intact. Market watch on MATIMA (5) first-up following a gelding procedure. The other runner BEAU BANDIT (6) is at long odds and will probably follow them home.
