Verdict

This has more the feel of a provincial maiden so VIVA MAURICIO (8) comes right into calculations. Opened this prep with an enormous effort over 6 ½f at Kembla, bombing the start and conceding at least a dozen lengths before finishing less than one length adrift. Nicely placed over the extra ½f - just needs to jump to play a key role. THE CHAMPION (7) was slowly into stride over 5f at Kembla on debut but warmed to the task late and wasn't beaten all that far. Needs this sort of trip and can improve sharply. ICHIBAN KOJI (1) did his best work late when returning from an eight-month spell over 6f at Canterbury recently. Lightly raced colt who finds a nice race and should be in the finish. CELLARMASTER (5) has not appeared since a modest debut at Newcastle in July. Trialled well recently and appears ready to run well. VALENTIAGO (9) is back after a 20-week lay-off. Improved as last prep went on and new heights can be reached this time in work.
