JP - Mombetsu - Race 2

VARADERO (7) has the most convincing recent profile after running second to Kaseno Eagle at this track, beaten a length, and that followed an eye-catching fifth when making ground from a difficult position. He is still searching for a win, but his 6f placings and latest effort give him the clearest winning case. MOUNTAIN TOP (4) is the immediate threat, having placed twice from five starts at this venue and finished second as favourite over 5f last time, the 6f record is the small query, though Yamato Ishikawa has placed on him at both rides. SASURAO (1) was run down late when second to Clay Phantom and has another minor-money profile if he repeats that effort. RYUNO PIRATES (6) has been well found in betting at his past two over 1 ¹/16m without finishing off, so the return to 6f is a plus.
