OVER THE TROUBLE (10) was sent out favourite but could only finish fourth over 6f at this track last time. Prior to that had been racing well, collecting two minor placings on end. Should be prominent from the outset. Among the leading chances. GOOD HORSE (12) has been in great form with two placings in succession, most recently when beaten 5.5 lengths into third over 1m at this track. Best figures measure up. Sure to run well. DEAR MORE (2) missed the frame last time when fifth at this track. Prior to that had been in the money on two consecutive occasions. Drawn to enjoy a good run on the speed. Solid claims on best form.

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

Allowance Race

A race with non-claiming conditions set by the racing secretary. They are meant to be a step down from stakes racing.

Workout

A workout is a timed sprint over varying distances prior to a race, meant to get a horse fit enough for competition.
