Verdict

STEPS AHEAD (4) narrowly missed over this course and distance two back, going under in a photo finish. He disappointed back to 7f last start, but gets Purton back in the saddle now with the rise to the mile suiting. Maps to get every chance and he can return to winning ways. SKY HEART (12) looks well placed here on the back of a strong performance at Happy Valley last time out. Despite the narrow defeat, he drops 2kgs for today's race and he's a winner over this track and trip previously. Maps for a lovely run under Badel and can go one better now. SAGACIOUS LIFE (3) got the job done narrowly first-up after a long break in his HK debut. He was big odds there but was very good late in the race and he's trialled well again since. McDonald replaces the apprentice hoop and there's no reason why he can't go on with the job. HONG LOK GOLF (2) is better than we saw last time out and can turn in an improved effort.
