MEGA CAPTAIN (2) resumes as the horse to beat after finishing last campaign with a win at this track, scoring from Pejibaye after beginning well and finishing off strongly. He has stacks of upside and his recent trial form is superb with Purton on board, who sticks with him for his return effort. Looks set to pick up from where he left off. CENTRAL BANK (4) is the main danger after a sound fourth at this venue when well found in betting, and his C3 sixth two runs back reads well enough for this. GROUPER (9) is still winless but has placed three times from six runs at the distance and is fitter third-up, so the inside draw and claim give him a genuine chance to turn consistency into a stronger result. GIANT LEAP (8) was fourth first-up at Happy Valley after being near the top of betting, and his long-established 6f record keeps him in the winning mix if he sharpens second-up.
