Verdict

SIR CHARGE (1) has been going around in stronger company for a while now, but suspect he's been waiting for this drop in class. Back to a C4 now and Bowman hopping in the saddle is a good push for his chances. Out to 6f looks ideal and a sharp turnaround in his form is expected. GENIUS BABY (7) has switched to the Crawford stable since his latest effort and has trialled very sharply. A couple of gear changes and the booking of the stable strike jock Teetan suggests he can run well off a short freshen. CRYSTAL POWERFUL (8) showed some improvement last start as a long shot, beaten 2.8L. He's among friends however and the rating he put up last start isn't out of the ordinary for him. Can fire in what looks a suitable race. FREE PONY (3) wasn't far away here first-up as a $53 chance and he usually improves with a run under the belt. The wide draw is a niggle, but he can build on the first-up effort and he's not out of this.
