Verdict

LYDIARD PARK (3) has a big private reputation and ran his best race yet when finishing a brave third at Waverley 7 weeks ago. He is obviously a slow-maturing type, but he will make the grade, and if he starts from his wide gate, then he is the one to beat. HELL ISLAND (2) went a huge race here 9 days ago when travelling wide from a tough gate here 9 days ago. He gets a big swing in his draw this time and is good enough to take this out. CHAMPAGNE WISHES (10) finished fourth over 2 months ago, and she has been third at a poly track trial at Cambridge since then. A wide gate is no help, but with the aid of a 4lbs claim, she is still capable of a top 4 finish. PAPER ROMANCE (5) has been through a few trainers, and he makes his debut for the Aimee Black stable, who produced him to win a recent Avondale trial. His a rising 6YO who should be ready to run a big race.

Racing well recently. At the latest run 4th of 15 at this track on April 27 over 7f, slow going 3.5 len behind Wee Nessy with 127lbs at $46.30. The run before that 4th in a small field at Matamata on April 15 over 7f, on a wet track, 8 len behind Incredible Patch with 128lbs at $5.60. Certainly worth another chance.
