Verdict

There should be better to come from JASMIN DE GRUGY, who capped a promising first season over fences with a creditable effort at Punchestown during the spring and he clearly goes well fresh (made a winning reappearance on the back of a similar absence last term). Deafening Silence remains of interest, despite bombing out when last seen in March, and he is second choice ahead of Cruz Control and Konfusion.

Deafening Silence (Ire) silk

Grade 2 hurdles winner who opened chase account in first-time cheekpieces when taking a 3-runner novice at Warwick (3m, soft) in February. Suffered a heavy defeat back in handicap company at Uttoxeter the following month, but he remains one to be positive about and a bold show could be on the way.

2
Cruz Control (Fr) silk

Wasn't disgraced when fifth in 2024 Eider Chase here and otherwise unbeaten at this course (3-4 overall at Newcastle). Well below par first 2 starts last term, but looked better than ever when landing a major Aintree handicap during the spring and 4 lb rise fair. One to consider for in-form yard.
