Verdict

SPIRITED GESTURE looked good on her Newmarket debut and should make it 2-2, likely at the expense of Pontefract scorer Angel In My Heart unless the betting speaks in the favour of well-bred Hugo Palmer newcomer Rubyroo.

Horse Racing Basic Terms

Bobble/Stumble

A slip or a duck from a horse trying to leave the starting gates, often caused by the surface giving way under the feet. This can range from a mild misstep to a stumble down to their knees.

Fractions

The times recorded during the race; with timing starting just past the gate or when the gates open, then parroted for the quarter, half, three-quarters etc. Used as an indication of ability and speed.

State-Bred

A horse bred in a particular state and thus eligible to race in restricted state-bred races. These can be anything from maiden races to stakes events.
