Verdict

NEDS BEACH (8) had to dig deep to salute at the most recent appearance over 1m at Gawler, getting home by just a nose. Should enjoy a nice smother from this draw and will be looking for a split at some stage. Must raise the bar but he has the ability to test this field. BALLADORO (5) settled in the leading division then took control and kept finding to score narrowly over 1m at Port Pirie six days ago. A nice draw on the front line should ensure a cosy run. His last-start form is good enough to take out a race like this. MEET ME AT THE BEACH (1) was out of the money two runs ago then broke and finished sixth last start over 1m at Gawler, coming home 35 metres from the winner. It doesn't get any easier but she is talented enough to be competitive. TRIGGER (3) disappointed last time when eighth over 1 ¼m at Gawler. Can do a lot better so worth considering.

A race in which horses are entered for a certain price, or claiming tag, which is also their sales price. An owner can claim any horse entered for the tag before the race begins, and owns them as soon as the gates open.

Bolt

A sudden veering to the inside or outside rail, often caused by the horse spooking or shying from something.

Rabbit

Also known as a pacemaker; this is a horse with no expected chance of winning but is used to prompt a quick pace on the front end of the race to the benefit of a stablemate who is a closer.
