SPOOKY ART (9) put the writing on the wall when he started from this row and worked when parked but fought on well for second last start, beaten 3.4 metres at this circuit and distance. With an ounce of luck he could go one better. UNIT FORTY ONE (7) has been racing well of late, finishing fifth at his last two appearances in higher-graded races at Newcastle. May need luck at some stage extracting from the inside of the second row but if he gets the gaps has winning claims. BLACKMIRRA (3) didn't do a bad job when midfield from the back row at Newcastle last time out. Placed from a similar barrier to this here prior. Contender. REIGN MAKER (5) was midfield at this venue last start but won the other two times he raced here and returns to the front row.
