NAMAKA (6) is a multiple winner at black-type level and lines up for the first time since a third in a Listed race at Menangle in December. Goes well fresh winning two of three attempts and should be ready to go off two city trials. RED SAPPHIRE (8) did some work when racing parked so was far from disgraced when beaten 6 metres at Menangle last week. Took his strike rate at this venue to 50 per cent when coming from this row to win two back so is better placed. VAN BASTEN (9) placed as favourite here last week and won the only other time he attempted this distance. Genuine threat. ULTIMATE CRUZA (1) goes up in grade but gets the ace draw and is racing well with a win and a close second in his last two starts a Bathurst, both from wider draws.
